Posted - Feb 20 2020 : 3:16:54 PM HI Ashley, Thank you for your advise. I used quinoa flour which I ground in my Vitamix. I will refer back to my book. I recall the bit about making pancakes but I think I misunderstood the reason. I'm excited to do more baking.

Posted - Feb 20 2020 : 09:36:07 AM Hi Marianne, and welcome! I'm excited to hear more about your willd bread making endeavors. Which type of flour are you using? As far your bread not rising after the first week of keeping your mother, this is normal. In fact, it can take upwards of one month to establish your mother. The more developed your mother gets, the more loft you'll see. This is addressed on p. 23. On p. 28, for the first couple weeks, it's advised that you make pancakes or waffles when you're just starting a new mother. |

Posted - Feb 19 2020 : 1:18:24 PM HI, I started making my mother on Feb 8, on the following sunday (15th) I made bread or tried. It came out like a big hunk of rubber. It had the sour taste but didn't rise. The mother didn't have any bubbles. I reserved a cup and started over. So far it has the smell but no bubbles. I used quinoa which a ground in the Vitamix. The flour was beautiful, I used it to make Indian roti and that worked. Any suggestions? |

Keeping the bread and mother separated, does this include the bread being made from the mother as well?
Thanks.

Posted - Apr 25 2019 : 09:30:57 AM As long as you keep your mother out of the same airspace (tuck her in another warm room or a cabinet), making bread shouldn't be a problem. After making the bread, as long as you keep the yeasted bread away from your mother, you shouldn't have a problem. |
