So I feed my fridge mother every week 3 scoops of flour and 2 of water (1/8 cup) and somehow my mother in the fridge is decreasing. Like this week when I took out my 1/2 cup, before I fed it again, it looked like there was about 1/4 cup left... I fed it double this week to build it back up. I try to make sure my scoops are the same each week. Maybe I am taking out to much in my 1/2 cup??

You should have roughly 1/2 cup of refrigerator mother in your dish after removing your 1/2 cup for bake day each week. It’s good that you noticed—I’d just add an extra helping of flour and water (3/8 cup flour and 1/4 cup water) to build it back up. Since you’ve started feeding your mother double, you can choose a different day of the week to add your extra, that way you stagger feedings and don’t overwhelm your mother.

As for cleaning your dish. I think once a month is a good rule of thumb, or if the sides start looking crusty.

Oh yes, and how often should I clean my refrigerator mother’s dish? Or do I need to worry about that?
